As often happens, I went out early on one July morning with a laundry list of photos to take, and came back with something entirely unexpectedly different! As day broke, a thin layer of clouds kissed the top of the hills of the Marin Headlands, across the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco, California. Cresting Conzelman Road and beginning my descent towards the Pacific, this vision appeared in my rear view. For a good twenty minutes, the rising sun shone through the trees atop Hawk Hill, casting countless shards of light into the fog.
