Every few months, I try to get as far away from civilization as possible, and the far-flung deserts and ranges of northern California are a perfect place to do so. Here, in the mountains of Plumas County, the small stand of ponderosa pine base in the campfire's glow, whilst the Milky Way slowly rotates overhead.
