Segue: Night photograph of the Marin Headlands and north tower of San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge,

Segue

San Francisco, CA, 2007
Limited Edition Pigment Print

The San Francisco Bay Area is a wonderfully fickle checkerboard of urban spaces and relatively untouched land. In less than an hour from the heart of the city, you can reach wilderness, the caveat being that you'll probably be able to see the landmarks that you've left behind, off in the distance - for a photographer in search of visual contrasts, a nearly perfect arrangement.

The Golden Gate bridge, sandwiched between two relatively pristine chunks of land, illustrates this concept perfectly. Here, a low fog clings to the bay, easing the transition from the bluffs of the Marin Headlands to the base of the north tower of the Golden Gate Bridge.

From the Bridge Tableaux series.
